Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about servicing your Mercury or Suzuki outboard with Auckland Marine Service Centre.
How often should I service my outboard?
As a general guide, many outboards are serviced once a year or around every 100 hours of use. The right interval depends on the model, engine hours, age and the manufacturer’s schedule, so always follow your owner’s manual for your engine.
Do you service Mercury outboards?
Yes. We provide authorised Mercury service support — servicing, diagnostics, repairs and repowers — using genuine or recommended parts.
Do you service Suzuki outboards?
Yes. We are certified for Suzuki and use genuine Suzuki parts, oils and lubricants, working to the manufacturer’s prescribed schedule for your model.
Do you service other brands?
At this stage, the service centre is focused on Mercury and Suzuki outboards.
Are you authorised / certified?
Auckland Marine Service Centre is an authorised dealer and certified service provider for Mercury and Suzuki, with certified technicians.
Do you use genuine parts?
We use genuine or manufacturer-recommended parts to keep your servicing factory-conscious and protect your engine.
Can you collect my boat?
Boat pick-up can be arranged. Just mention it when you book and we’ll talk through the options.
Do you offer mobile marine servicing?
No mobile marine servicing is advertised at this stage, but boat pick-up can be arranged.
How long does a service take?
It depends on the engine, the service required and what we find. We’ll give you a clear idea of timing when we confirm your booking.
Can you diagnose warning alarms?
Yes. We take a diagnostics-led approach — we diagnose the cause first, then explain the options and a clear quote before any major work.
Can you help with repowers?
Yes. We help match the right Mercury or Suzuki outboard to your hull and how you use your boat, and handle installation, setup and testing.
What details should I provide when booking?
Your engine brand and model, engine size / horsepower if you know it, what you’d like done or any symptoms, and whether you’d like to discuss boat pick-up.
Can you check my trailer too?
Yes. We can check common trailer safety items such as bearings, brakes, lights and couplings, and advise on anything that needs attention before towing.
Do I need to know my engine hours?
It helps if you do, but it’s not essential. If you’re not sure, let us know and we’ll work it out together.
Ready to book your boat in?
Tell us about your engine and what it’s doing. We’ll confirm details, timing and a clear plan before any major work.
